Vista RAM

what are the limitations of backwards compatibility with DDR memory?

ive read the ddr ram is bacwards compatible, this means if i have a motherboard that take DDR266 i can install DDR333 and it will work, however the frequency of the ram will remain at 266 Mhz. what are all the catches to this? what if i have 2 diferent types of memory on the same board? will it still work

  1. if you install both ddr400 and a ddr333 stick, the ddr400 speed will default to the ddr333 sticks speeds. this will only work with ddr, you can not mix ddr with ddr2
